Bruce:
\n– Updates:
\n– 2010 was when Student Senate unanimously voted to use tax dollars to fund the rock wall
\n– Lighting part of the fields was another matter voted on. $180,000 was allocated towards this but renovations have not occurred
\n– Meeting again March 10th to talk about lighting of the Tibet\u2019s field
\n– Jodi Hawkins is waiting to hear back from the lighting company to get a new quote
\n– Looking to find the least expensive way to do this project and will be taken care of completely by the end of the year
\n– The new Sailing Coach approached Bruce two weeks to discuss policies and procedures of Senate
\n– Trying to get the Club and Team to work more together
\n– Want to update 36 fleets: estimated to cost $385,000
\n– Going to start approaching alumni
\n– Want to start a matching program with our Tax Proportion Account to fund this project since the costs are high
\n– Our tax proportion account is healthy and we have been approached about being too fiscally conservative…
\n– This is a project for Senate to consider
\n– Sailing is open to all students and open year round; very good about paying Senate back for any loans= why we should consider helping
\n– Stipend Issue
\n– Bill going on floor this week
\n– Issue that needs to be squarely looked at: consistency and a way of putting a system in place
\n– IFC\/Panhel: we stipended these groups which are selective, which now creates a precedent
\n– Need to talk to IFC\/Panhel; leave the same amount in their budgets and move budgets to programming. Take care of the finances internally and then continue to figure out a fair\/equitable system for stipending
\n– Last semester, the bill written does not have an expiration date. The new bill will challenge this
\n– The original stipend bill lost because it said \u201cneeds to be inclusive,\u201d which was not agreed on by the Senate body
\n– NEED CRITERIA for stipending
\n– Currently, 7 groups get stipends, Senate being one of them<\/p>\n
Kidd:
\n– Next Tuesday is the Presidential Q&A
\n– Mandated by By-Laws even if opponents are unopposed<\/p>\n
President:
\n– No longer have class on Saturday
\n– The Faculty Senate meeting was very successful especially since Faculty Senate did not want to have classes on Saturday either
\n– Also approved to give Faculty Executive Committee power to edit the Academic Calendar
\n– 48 hours before changes are made, an Open Forum has to occur
\n– Senate Pictures are Wednesday
\n– Formal is this Friday
\n– Want to put a couch in the office<\/p>\n
VP:
\n– Formal is coming up
\n– Need Commencement Speaker Applications<\/p>\n
SOARC:
\n– Met with MUSIC and SEC at last meeting
\n– SEC will come back in Fall or Spring but MUSIC probably won\u2019t
\n– Meeting with the Cigar Monday to discuss stipends for the editor<\/p>\n
Finance:
\n– Budgeting is going well
\n– Working on hidden expenses
\n– Report will be on the floor this week
\n– Secretary, DOC, DOM, and CIO stipends have gotten shaved back<\/p>\n
Treasurer:
\n– Stipends are out<\/p>\n
External
\n– Working on the Emporium issue (the guy)
\n– Contacted him and the guy said \u201cI don\u2019t care\u201d
\n– He wants to sell the spot
\n– Senate could make a deal with the university where we put Capital Improvement money to contribute towards creating a paved lot
\n– Only thing we can do is sue him due to his lack of caring<\/p>\n
Academic:
\n– Idea to work on facilitating Senate understanding of what goes on during meeting
\n– Want to see voting records so we can hold students more accountable
\n– Will allow us to look back at student votes
\n– Clicker system
\n– Shouldn\u2019t cost more than $2000
\n– Working with CIO Yip on this<\/p>\n
CIO:
\n– Working on projects<\/p>\n
Campus:
\n– Met with Facilities because people are having trouble getting around campus
\n– People with broken legs\/etc are supposed to call RIPTA to get picked up
\n– Scheduling a meeting to discuss the points that were made
\n– We signed another contract for the beginning of the year with RIPTA
\n– Want to advertise the services RIPTA provides (like services to South County Commons)
\n– Also want to make other information more accessible such as numbers to call, what Safe Rides is, etc.<\/p>\n
Cultural:
\n– Ace of Cakes went well!
\n– Raised $130 for Rhody Outpost
\n– A lot of people showed up just to look around; Dining Facilities attended
\n– About 34 teams signed up and 3 teams didn\u2019t show
