{"id":5977,"date":"2016-11-01T12:12:49","date_gmt":"2016-11-01T16:12:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/studentsenate\/?p=5977"},"modified":"2016-11-01T12:12:49","modified_gmt":"2016-11-01T16:12:49","slug":"academic-10-13-16","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/studentsenate\/academic-10-13-16\/","title":{"rendered":"Academic 10-13-16"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>MEETING START TIME: 4:20<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>ATTENDANCE: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Committee: <\/strong>Chairman Garcia, Vice-Chair Temple, Senator Russo, Senator Morabito, Chairwoman King<\/p>\n<p><strong>Absent: <\/strong>Senator Curtis<\/p>\n<p><strong>Non-Committee<\/strong>: N\/A<\/p>\n<p><strong>COMMITTEE DISCUSSION: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\"><strong>Library Hours Bill<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Meeting began late due to the meeting with Dean of Libraries discussing the plan to pass opinion bill regarding library hours<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Originally the opinion bill was left vague so that our intentions didn\u2019t seem scattered and we could receive support from the general senate\n<ul>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">The Dean of Libraries hopes for data to come back to him regarding student opinions\n<ul>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">We hope our opinion bill will show a representation of student opinion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">We want to add specifications to the bill which forces us to specify our exact desires of which we find reasonable and doable while still being ambitious on student behalf<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Originally our idea was to open the first floor of the library for 24 hours a day during the final week and reading days\n<ul>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Impossible because the stairwells have no locks so the entire building would be accessible<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Also staffing would be difficult.
