The current president is trying to transition the group into more of an interest group.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Change funding status to funded.\n<ol>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Vote: (4-6-0)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Stipend Review<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\"><strong>WRIU<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">RIU2 Sports Director\n<ul>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Online sister station of WRUI2.\u00a0 In charge of getting students more intrigued and understanding of what it means to broadcast on online sports radio.\u00a0 Trains broadcasters how to run the station board and what to do when at the sports venue.\u00a0 Teach students how to handle expensive equipment and not break it.\u00a0 Sit down with students and provide insight into what goes into making the shows.\u00a0 Goes to arena\/stadium before the games and prepares broadcasters for their broadcast.\u00a0 Creates the schedules for the broadcasts.\u00a0 Handles communications between the broadcasters.\u00a0 Women\u2019s\/Men\u2019s soccer, ice-hockey, basketball, softball.\u00a0 Covers the same shows as the WRIU2.\u00a0 Identify the hard-working broadcasters and recommend them to FM radio.\u00a0 Listen to the broadcasts to ensure that they are quality.\u00a0 Oversees 18 students at the station.<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Vote: (8-0-0)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Chief Engineer\n<ul>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Equipment breaks.\u00a0 The radio station has a lot of technology.\u00a0 The chief engineer analyzes and repairs broken equipment.\u00a0 Orders new technology and is in the process of modernizing the station.\u00a0 It is an on-call position. Redoes the station playlist (equipment breaks often).\u00a0 Helps broadcasters with technical difficulties.\u00a0 Finds vendors to order specialized equipment. Other engineer is a broadcast engineer that is hired on for specialized problems.\u00a0 The chief engineer is responsible for all other technical issues at the station.\u00a0 Ensures that all broadcasts are up to FCC broadcast regulations.\u00a0 Ensure that all equipment is FCC approved.\u00a0 Encounters about 4-5 technical issues at the station over the course of a week.\u00a0 If the FCC license is revoked, the station cannot broadcast.<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Skill requirements\/training: Contacts the previous engineer at the station if there are problems that cannot be handled by the current engineer<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Vote: (9-0-0)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Assistant General Manager\n<ul>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Essentially the Vice-president.\u00a0 Handles relations with parking services and building itself.\u00a0 Has keycard control and controls building access. Takes minutes and attendance for staff meetings.\u00a0 If someone wants to do promotion, has power to approve or deny the promotional material.\u00a0 Promotional items are for the radiothon and other fundraising to ensure that the station has funding.\u00a0 Has two required office hours, does one-two hours outside the office.\u00a0 Ensures that there are up to date FM DJ contacts.\u00a0 The position is necessary to organize the station and ensure building access.\u00a0 Keycard access is created and updated coming out of the end of the year and does occasional updates over the day.\u00a0 Handles and explains the transition materials to new members.<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Responsible to take over for the general manager if she was absent.\u00a0 Has not happened yet.<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Without the position, the redistribution of work would place a heavy burden on the other members of the group.<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Voting: (8-0-0)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\"><strong>Good 5 Cent Cigar<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Founded 1971.\u00a0 Used to operate Monday through Thursday<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Editor in Chief\n<ul>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Is in contact with all the editors, reporters, photographers, drivers of newspaper truck.\u00a0 Meets with communication offices and the student senate.\u00a0 Maintain relations with department heads for story ideas.\u00a0 Section editors also check in with different department heads.\u00a0 Investigates stories even when pursuing difficult or sensitive topics.\u00a0 Trains students to be professional reporters.<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Week starts on Thursday with the weekly staff meeting.\u00a0 Ensure that the stories are assigned.\u00a0 Ensure that stories that need photos get photos.\u00a0 Speak with reporters to ensure that loose ends are wrapped up.\u00a0 Get ads and creates the layout of the paper.\u00a0 Holds office hours from 3-5.\u00a0 Print and content deadline is Tuesday at 5.\u00a0 The content is edited as a group.\u00a0 Wednesday is the production night.\u00a0 Looks over the stories and makes adjustments as needed.\u00a0 In charge of overseeing the layout.\u00a0 Does final check-in to ensure that everything is all set for the final production.\u00a0 After each section is laid out, goes through the paper to ensure that everything is as it should be.\u00a0 Stays up into the early morning on Thursdays to get everything done.\u00a0 Sends the final paper off to get printed.<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Sends out contacts for each story-pass out phone numbers and emails.\u00a0 Does follow-ups and check-ins with the reporters.\u00a0 Ensure that stories are updated in the event of dropped stories.<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Election process: Anyone who has been in at least 3 meetings can vote in the elections by secret ballot.\u00a0 The Editor in Chief runs all elections except their own.<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Not required to write stories for papers, usually does so anyways.<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Vote: (10-0-0)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>MEETING ADJOURNMENT TIME: <\/strong>\u00a05:19<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MEETING START TIME: 3:00 pm ATTENDANCE: Committee: Sam King, Eric Wang, Jen Scotti, Austin Cordova, Romanuel Percy, Michael Bachials, Natasha Nemeth, Austin Faria, Dan Depetro, Stephanie St. Louis Absent: Dan Bertel Non-Committee: &nbsp;
