Sardinha<\/p>\n<p><strong>Absent:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Non-Committee:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>DISCUSSION: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>OER<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">A lunch is taking place on October 4th from 11:30am-12:30pm, people can still sign up<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">It is a way to save students money<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Talk to your Dean about it, push for OER<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Academic Summit Committee<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Every winter they have an Academic Summit<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">It discusses ways to change the world of Academics<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Innovation and Adaptability is the theme<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Anyone can do it, not just senator<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Contact Chairman Temple to do it\n<ul>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">They meet once a month and are accommodating with people\u2019s schedules<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">The committee itself will focus more on the theme\n<ul>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">if it is future planning or a pitch contest<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Starfish<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Chairman Temple emailed Rob Marshall in regards to Starfish<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">He might come to committee or come to public form<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">They want to mainstream it<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Classes<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">The problem of classes that involve majors however because they are new they are not being counted toward the major\n<ul>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Marine Pollution does not count towards a Marine Bio major<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Faculty urging students to take \u201coptional classes\u201d without letting them know that it is not going towards their major<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Why can\u2019t Marine Bio majors take one extra class for a Chem minor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Other Possible Projects to Take on<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Individualistic\/adaptive majors\n<ul>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Creating your own major and design it<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Brown does it<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">UMASS Amherst does it<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">UCONN does it<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">They already do it with minors here<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Some kind of checks and balance would be needed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Student Employment\n<ul>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Creating a student employment committee in faculty senate<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Do away with the 20 Hours a week rule\n<ul>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">RAs already do more than that<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Creating employment center\n<ul>\n<li class=\"minutes_text\">Maybe in the Union or in Roosevelt<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Extra:<\/strong> Committee members should do research how other colleges have a individualistic\/adaptive
