{"id":272,"date":"2019-11-26T15:12:23","date_gmt":"2019-11-26T20:12:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/summer-draft\/?page_id=272"},"modified":"2026-01-22T15:26:12","modified_gmt":"2026-01-22T20:26:12","slug":"online-courses","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/summer\/planning\/online-courses\/","title":{"rendered":"Online Courses"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"type-intro fullwidth\">Students taking an online course for the first time this summer are highly encouraged to complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/its.uri.edu\/services\/94530c3f5458461a0009654227972125b3e8f9abd6\/#:~:text=From%20the%20homepage%20of%20Brightspace,best%20use%20of%20the%20tooll\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">URI Online Learning Orientation<\/a> prior to the start of the course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<p>While most URI Summer online courses are administered entirely through <a href=\"https:\/\/brightspace.uri.edu\/\">Brightspace<\/a>, music courses are administered via <a href=\"https:\/\/connect4education.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">connect4education<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>URI Summer online courses can be administered synchronously or asynchronously, depending on the curriculum and the instructor. Summer online courses may have daily and\/or weekly assignment deadlines. These courses will likely involve a variety of <a data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/its.uri.edu\/student-key-services\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1611341353315000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGmqExcso5BgN8subCbPTY0wTO97w\" href=\"https:\/\/its.uri.edu\/student-key-services\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">key services<\/a> that are available for free to all URI students. It is essential that students be ready to start participating in an online summer class on the first day of the session in which it is offered.
