He loved working with ticks and was a passionate promoter of tick bite protection and Lyme disease prevention<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12738\" src=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1713\/DavidSimser.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"387\" height=\"314\" srcset=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/tickencounter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1713\/DavidSimser.jpg 387w, https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/tickencounter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1713\/DavidSimser-300x243.jpg 300w, https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/tickencounter\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1713\/DavidSimser-364x295.jpg 364w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 387px) 100vw, 387px\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"separator small\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><i>&#8220;Simser made people laugh. He impressed them with his generous nature and open-door home, his love of dogs, and his unparalleled knowledge of the Cape and Islands&#8217; nature and conservation areas.
