Michelle’s background is in buying and merchandising. After graduating from URI, she moved to New York City to join the Saks Fifth Avenue buyers training program. She was an assistant buyer, associate buyer, & merchandise planner in Women’s Bridge. She received the Assistant Buyer of the Year award. She then moved to San Francisco to become a buyer for the Target Corporation. Her team designed, sourced, and purchased a private label Boys Collection after which she became a Sr. Buyer for Women’s and Junior Sportswear. She left Target for Pottery Barn Kids, which was a small chain of 12 stores. As Buyer for Rugs, Window, & Bath she expanded the stores and assortment to 52 stores. She returned to Rhode Island in 2006 and became a private consultant for a luxury catalog for 2 years. She currently has launched a new business called My Best Friend’s Closet Consignment Sale, which is a bi-yearly Women’s Designer Pop Up Sale that supports the Green trend by consigning product from local consignors.
