Planning is Everything<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Are you a current URI student planning to take a course at another college or university? Are you an incoming student unsure how your credits will transfer? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whether you\u2019re completing a summer class at home, studying abroad, or catching up on credits online, it\u2019s important to follow the proper steps so your credits transfer to URI correctly and count toward your degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transfer Equivalency System (TES)<\/h1>\n\n

Check Course Transferability<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Use the Transfer Evaluation System (TES) Public View<\/a> to see if your course has already been reviewed. If it\u2019s not listed, don\u2019t worry – URI faculty will evaluate upon receipt of an official transcript. Transferology<\/a> is another tool to use – search for your prior school in the database to see all of the courses previously approved for transfer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Get prior approval<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Always confirm with your academic advisor and, if required, your dean\u2019s office, to verify that the course will fulfill your degree (major) or General Education requirements. Use the Prior Approval for Off-Campus Study form.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consider timing and sequence<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re taking a course that builds on previous URI coursework (like languages, lab sciences, or math), make sure the content and credits align properly before enrolling.<\/p>\n\n<\/section>\n\n

Official Transcripts and Evaluations<\/h1>\n\n

After You Complete the Course<\/strong>:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Once the course is complete and your final grade has posted, request your official transcript. You will need to initiate the process to send an official transcript to URI. Transfer credit evaluations are generally completed within 21 days. Please be patient, monitor your email address(es) and\/or refresh your transfer credit report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transcripts are processed in the order received. It may take several weeks for the credits to be received, evaluated, and posted. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

AP, IB, JST – Electronic Only<\/strong>!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

 <\/strong>All Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and Joint Services Transcripts (JST) can only<\/span> be sent electronically to URI. Transfer Credit Report<\/h1>\n\n

Incoming Students:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019ll get access to e-Campus only after you pay your enrollment deposit.<\/strong> Keep an eye on your email- that\u2019s where your transfer credit report will be sent once it\u2019s ready, before you pay your deposit. If it\u2019s been more than 21 days since your admission date and you still haven\u2019t received your report, reach out to your college\u2019s transfer credit evaluator<\/a> for an update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To View Your Transfer Credit Report:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Log in to\u00a0e-Campus<\/a>\u00a0(if you have never logged in to e-Campus before, please review the\u00a0step-b<\/a><\/span>y-step guide\u00a0to e-Campus for detailed instructions).<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Look at the portion of the page labeled \u201cAcademics.\u201d You will see a drop-down menu; click on the menu and select \u201cTransfer Credit Report.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Request Re-evaluation<\/h1>\n\n

Students who disagree with how their transfer credit was originally evaluated may request a re-evaluation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most first-year, exploratory, and undeclared majors<\/strong> should contact Transfer Student Success<\/em> and complete the Transfer Credit Re-evaluation<\/a> form. Please be sure to follow all directions and submit the completed form(s). Ensure all chairpersons have signed off, along with your signature.\u00a0Materials can be submitted to John Rooney<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All students with majors should contact their college’s dean’s office<\/strong> and follow their re-evaluation form(s) and process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JAA and JAA Discount<\/h1>\n\n

Transfer Student Success<\/em> (TSS) is responsible for administering the Joint Admissions Agreement (JAA) Tuition Discount Policy at the University of Rhode Island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About JAA<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

URI partners with CCRI to offer pathways from associate degrees to baccalaureate degrees, highlighted by the signature program, the Joint Admission Agreement (JAA). Students interested in transferring to URI through the JAA should visit the CCRI-URI JAA Admission Pathways page for full eligibility requirements and program details. Strict adherence to the program plan policy, as posted by CCRI and URI, applies. Questions about the program should be directed to transferadmission@uri.edu<\/a> or your CCRI advisor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About JAA Tuition Discount<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Through the JAA program, eligible Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) graduates may receive a tuition discount of up to 30% upon transferring to URI, based on their final CCRI GPA: 10% for a GPA of 3.00\u20133.24, 20% for 3.25\u20133.49, and 30% for 3.50 or higher. The discount applies only to fall and spring semester tuition and is valid for a maximum of 6 consecutive fall\/spring semesters, regardless of enrollment status. Winter J-Term and Summer Sessions are not included.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To remain eligible, students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 at URI and continue to follow their approved JAA transition plan. Students may not change their primary major once enrolled under JAA; however, they may add a second major or minor as long as the original JAA plan remains active and unchanged. Failure to meet these requirements or GPA standards will result in permanent loss of the discount. Per the State of Rhode Island JAA policy, there is no appeal process once eligibility for the discount is lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
