Transportation & Parking Updates<\/h1>\n\n

2026 Commuter Spring Parking permits will go on sale 1\/2\/26 starting at 9am<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n

All students must park in student lots only and MUST have a valid permit to park <\/span>AT ALL TIMES<\/strong>. Parking will be strongly enforced in all other lots during these times. Please view the campus map <\/span>here<\/strong><\/a> for all available student lots.<\/span><\/p>\n

Parking permits are virtual. URI uses license plate recognition to verify registered vehicles. Please park with your license plate facing outward, and be sure that it isn\u2019t obstructed by license plate covers, stickers, or debris. You are responsible to keep your license plate updated <\/span>PRIOR<\/strong> to parking on campus in order to avoid receiving a ticket. Parking permits are not transferable.<\/span><\/p>\n

Please view <\/span>our off campus alternative parking options<\/a> for additional options to park your vehicle off campus. You don\u2019t need a campus parking permit to have easy access to your car! Park for <\/span>free<\/strong> at the <\/span>Wickford Junction Garage<\/a> (20 minutes away) either daily or overnight for as long as school is in session.  All students can purchase discounted 50%  RIPTA passes, available on the 2nd floor of the Memorial Union. <\/span><\/p>\n

Commuter parking lots are marked in red on the <\/span>Kingston campus map<\/a>. Commuter students may only park in their designated lot for the permit they purchased, parking in any other lot or area will result in a $35.00 fine for the first violation and $50.00 for every subsequent violation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Parking is enforced 24\/7 and all vehicles <\/span>must<\/strong> have an active permit and park in their designated lots 7am to 5pm.  <\/span><\/p>\n

Between 5pm and 7am, commuter students can park in any commuter or staff lot on campus with a permit <\/span>except<\/strong><\/span> for the Faculty\/Staff lots in the residential district listed below which are enforced and require a valid Faculty\/Staff permit 24\/7:<\/span><\/p>\n

Lot# 17 Potter Health Clinic lot, Lot #18 Hillside, Lots behind the entire residential complex which include Weldin, Adams, Browning\/Eddy, Potter, and behind Fascitelli center and Lot#21 Surge.<\/span><\/p>\n

Commuters can use Faculty\/Staff Lot #s: 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16 and all staff lots on the east side of the campus <\/span>after<\/strong> 5pm. All these lots are located within the academic core including lot #14- the library.  Additionally, commuters can park in Lot #26 and 27 which are in the athletic\/recreational district.<\/span><\/p>\n

Commuter Parking permits are available by the semester or by the academic year:<\/p>\n

2025-2026 Annual Permit: <\/strong>$215<\/p>\n

2026 Semester Permit: <\/strong>$135<\/p>\n

Your License Plate Is Your Parking Permit<\/h2>\n

URI uses license plate recognition<\/a> to verify registered vehicles. Please park with your license plate facing outward, and be sure that it isn’t obstructed by license plate covers, stickers, or debris. It is imperative to keep your license plate updated to avoid receiving a ticket. <\/p>\n

If you have a symbol in your plate, enter the plate number without the symbol. For disabled license plates, enter \u201cDV\u201d or \u201cDP” before the plate number. For example: DPSAMPLE<\/p>\nOrder Your Parking Permit<\/a>\n

You\u2019ll need your single sign-on credentials<\/a> to login. To register your vehicle, you’ll need its license plate number, make, and model. <\/p>\n
