Parking and Transportation and University Police may issue a variety of citations. These fines are payable to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courts.ri.gov\/Courts\/rhodeislandtraffictribunal\/Pages\/default.aspx\">Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal<\/a> by mail. There are directions on the ticket for making a payment or filing an appeal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Failure to Pay Parking Fines<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Late Payment Penalty:<\/strong> Each citation not paid within 14 days of issuance will be assessed a $10.00 late fee. Citations not paid within 28 days will be assessed another $10.00 late fee.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A negative service indicator will be placed on your e-Campus account for all outstanding parking fines.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Towing:<\/strong>&nbsp;Vehicles may be towed for the following reasons:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Failure to pay outstanding parking fines<\/li><li>Unauthorized parking in reserved areas\/spaces\/lots<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>TAP Citation Appeals<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Any individual receiving a citation may appeal the validity of the citation to the Appeals Officer. Appeals can be made <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/uri.aimsparking.com\/tickets\/?cmd=view_all_appeal_eligible\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">online<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.&nbsp; The Appeals Officer will determine validity of parking citations based on information provided by the appellant, and under the appropriate circumstances, mitigate penalties for violations of these regulations.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Any individual dissatisfied with the ruling of the Appeals Officer can make an appeal to the Parking Committee. The Parking Committee, under the appropriate circumstances, can mitigate penalties for violations of these regulations.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Reasons Appeals May Be Denied<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>These situations are&nbsp;<strong>not considered to be valid reasons<\/strong>&nbsp;for appealing a parking citation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Lack of knowledge about parking regulations.<\/li><li>Late to or from an appointment or class.<\/li><li>Dropping off an assignment or seeing an instructor.<\/li><li><em><strong>No Permit Citation&nbsp;<\/strong><\/em>\u2013 if you have at least two prior citations and\/or warnings for \u201cNo Permit.\u201d<\/li><li>Parking for just a \u201cshort time\u201d.<\/li><li>Unable to find a legally-marked parking space.<\/li><li>Parking in a reserved space without a valid permit for the reserved space.<\/li><li><em><strong>Repeat Citations<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;\u2013 cannot appeal any citation if you have received two previous citations and\/or a warning for the same offense.<\/li><li>Overtime parking<\/li><li>Failure to pay previous tickets<\/li><li>Inoperable vehicle (car trouble) \u2013 failure to notify the Transportation &amp; Parking office.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>All appeals must be made within 14 days of citation issuance.<\/strong> <strong>Appeals not submitted within the 14 days will be rejected.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Appeals will not be accepted once a citation has been paid.
