The awards were later expanded to include\u00a0additional categories of\u00a0individuals who demonstrate excellence in their respective areas and whose work positively impacts the\u00a0entire University community.<\/p>\n<p>Four individuals are selected to receive an award\u2014one in each of the following categories:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Administrative Excellence<\/li>\n<li>Scholarly Excellence<\/li>\n<li>Staff Excellence<\/li>\n<li>Teaching Excellence\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">URI Division of Research and\u00a0Economic Development<br \/>Excellence Awards<\/h3>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/researchecondev\/excellence\/\" target=\"_blank\">URI Division of Research and Economic Development<\/a>\u00a0and the URI Council for Research have honored University faculty and student research and scholarship\u00a0since 2000. These awards recognize the work of current URI faculty\u2014advanced and early career\u2014postdoctoral fellows, research staff, and graduate and undergraduate students within each of the two academic categories:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Social Sciences, Arts, and Humanities<\/li>\n<li>Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Engineering<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<hr style=\"width:70%;border-width:5px\" \/>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">URI Research Foundation<br \/>Excellence Awards<\/h3>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/researchecondev\/commercialization\/\" target=\"_blank\">URI\u00a0Research\u00a0Foundation and the URI\u00a0Intellectual\u00a0Property Committee <\/a>\u00a0(IPC) honor University faculty and student creators and inventors of intellectual property which advances the economic development of the institution, state and world.
