Tuition Assistance funds are a unique, distinct source of financial aid available to eligible Service members. Service members are required to speak with their Educational Services Officer (ESO) or counselor within their Military Service prior to enrolling in any courses or applying to any program.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Note:<\/strong> Tuition Assistance is \u201cfirst payer\u201d meaning that it is applied to students\u2019 accounts prior to the application of other Financial Aid, such as a Pell Grant.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each military branch has its own TA application form and procedures. Before enrolling at the University of Rhode Island, active-duty service members using Department of Defense Tuition Assistance (TA) are encouraged to review resources designed to help compare institutions, understand costs, and make informed decisions about their education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The following federal tools provide information about college costs, graduation rates, student outcomes, financial aid, and other factors to consider when selecting a school:<\/strong><br><br><a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/collegescorecard.ed.gov\/__;!!Jh1S!nNIzy5D7Y7PYSEm86RpcqQvyeKcWnf6I6yzvnRK_KolJkIxtGFO6cKESD1jOCq5cMoBqIgkH9VvMKgcFaHfaJcJyvlz1MgJi$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>College Scorecard<\/strong><\/a><br>The College Scorecard provides information about colleges and universities, including costs, graduation rates, debt, and post-graduation outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/nces.ed.gov\/collegenavigator\/__;!!Jh1S!nNIzy5D7Y7PYSEm86RpcqQvyeKcWnf6I6yzvnRK_KolJkIxtGFO6cKESD1jOCq5cMoBqIgkH9VvMKgcFaHfaJcJyvh3LYB4v$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>College Navigator<\/strong><\/a><br>College Navigator is a resource from the National Center for Education Statistics that allows students to compare colleges based on information such as tuition and fees, enrollment, graduation rates, financial aid, and other institutional characteristics.<br><br><strong>College Financing Plan<\/strong><br>The College Financing Plan is a standardized financial aid offer designed to help students understand their estimated costs, financial assistance, and out-of-pocket expenses. Students should carefully review their financial aid information and compare options when considering enrollment.&nbsp; A link to this document will show in your&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ecampus-cs-prd.uri.edu\/psp\/saprodstu\/?cmd=login\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">URI e-Campus self-service portal<\/a>&nbsp;if you apply for financial aid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/www.consumerfinance.gov\/paying-for-college\/__;!!Jh1S!nNIzy5D7Y7PYSEm86RpcqQvyeKcWnf6I6yzvnRK_KolJkIxtGFO6cKESD1jOCq5cMoBqIgkH9VvMKgcFaHfaJcJyvoZ7hVst$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Paying for College<\/strong><\/a><br>The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau\u2019s Paying for College resource provides tools to help students understand college costs, compare financial aid offers, and plan for paying for higher education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/www.militaryonesource.mil\/resources\/gov\/tuition-assistance-decide\/__;!!Jh1S!nNIzy5D7Y7PYSEm86RpcqQvyeKcWnf6I6yzvnRK_KolJkIxtGFO6cKESD1jOCq5cMoBqIgkH9VvMKgcFaHfaJcJyvpfckv97$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Department of Defense TA Decide<\/strong><\/a><br>TA Decide is a resource specifically designed to help service members compare schools and make informed decisions when using Tuition Assistance benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/nsldsfap.ed.gov\/cdr-searchable-database\/school\/search__;!!Jh1S!nNIzy5D7Y7PYSEm86RpcqQvyeKcWnf6I6yzvnRK_KolJkIxtGFO6cKESD1jOCq5cMoBqIgkH9VvMKgcFaHfaJcJyvlbUU69G$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Student Loan Default Rate<\/strong><\/a><br>The Cohort Default Rate (CDR) measures the percentage of federal student loan borrowers who enter repayment during a federal fiscal year and default within three years. The University of Rhode Island\u2019s CDR is compared with the national average and the average for public four-year institutions. A low CDR reflects successful student loan repayment outcomes among our graduates and former students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students are also encouraged to connect with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/veterans\/contact\/\">URI\u2019s Center for Military and Veteran Education (MAVE)&nbsp;<\/a>and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/enrollment\/contact\/\">Enrollment Services&nbsp;<\/a>with questions about military benefits, financial aid, costs, or the enrollment process.
