Please introduce yourself to Ava when you see her at a water collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The fourth round of samples for the 2026 monitoring season has wrapped up. We\u2019ll be starting the fifth round of samples the first week of September (rivers and marine sites mostly, and DEEP lakes. Other sites are  welcome to bring in samples too \u2013 just let us know in advance so we have replacement bottles ready)!<\/strong>\u00a0Wondering when you should bring yours in? Check out the labels on your bottles or \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/watershedwatch\/monitoring\/monitoring-schedule\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Monitoring Schedules<\/a>\u201d to learn more\u2026 And please contact us if the scheduled time doesn\u2019t work with your schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Here\u2019s a great example of why protecting water quality is so important&nbsp;<\/strong>URI graduate students have found a rare and unexpected freshwater mussel in Moosup River (a former Watershed Watch monitoring site). URIWW even gets a shout out (and some screen time) Check it out at&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/hannainst.com\/rhode-island-trout-unlimited\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/hannainst.com\/rhode-island-trout-unlimited\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>RI Department of Environmental Management&nbsp;<\/strong>has posted updated maps of sites with aquatic invasive&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dem.ri.gov\/programs\/water\/quality\/surface-water\/aisplant.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">plants<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dem.ri.gov\/programs\/benviron\/water\/quality\/surfwq\/aismaps\/corflu.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Asian clams.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>We\u2019ve had lots of HABs advisories in 2026.&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;To learn more these blooms&nbsp;or current advisories posted to warm of potential harm if you swim in a particular place, check out our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/watershedwatch\/habs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HABs resource page<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Want to see more about HABS?
