Selected habitats and general ecological effects of humans. Spring semester.<\/li>\n<li><strong>BIO 360 \u2013 Marine Biology (4 credits)<br \/><\/strong>The nature of plants and animals of the sea. Diversity of species and adaptations to habitats from the sea surface to the depths of the ocean. Spring semester.<\/li>\n<li><strong>BIO 422X \u2013 Biology of Sharks and Their Relatives (3 credits)<br \/><\/strong>Rigorous survey of the biology of sharks, skates and rays.\u00a0 Evolution, classification, diversity, adaptions to the environment, life history, ecology and fisheries. \u00a0Fall semester.<\/li>\n<li><strong>BIO 492 \u2013 Field Methods for Elasmobranch Research (3 credits)<br \/><\/strong>Comprehensive survey of field methods used to study the biology of sharks and rays.\u00a0 One week conducting surveys from a small boat in Rhode Island waters, followed by one week in Isla Mujeres, Mexico swimming with whale sharks and investigating methods for study of large sharks in the wild.\u00a0 Summers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>BIO491\/2 \u2013 Directed Research\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>Individualized laboratory, field, or literature research projects.
