{"id":2889,"date":"2026-03-13T20:09:24","date_gmt":"2026-03-13T20:09:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/wordpress\/?page_id=2889"},"modified":"2026-03-13T20:09:24","modified_gmt":"2026-03-13T20:09:24","slug":"add-a-person-to-a-group","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/wordpress\/training\/add-a-person-to-a-group\/","title":{"rendered":"Add a Person to a Group"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"position: relative;width: 100%;height: 0;padding-bottom: 56.25%\">\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:0px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Go to Your Dashboard<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Log in to your WordPress dashboard.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Open the People Tool<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>From the left-hand menu, click <strong>People<\/strong>.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Select a Person Profile<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click an existing person\u2019s name to edit their profile, or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Add New Person<\/strong> if you\u2019re creating a new profile.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Open Person Settings<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click the <strong>Settings<\/strong> (gear) icon in the top right-hand corner.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the <strong>Person<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Assign the Person to a Group<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Locate the <strong>People Groups<\/strong> field.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the appropriate group from the list.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If no group is listed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Click <strong>Add Category<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Enter the new group name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Select <strong>Add Category<\/strong> to create and assign the group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Important:<\/strong> People&#8217;s profiles will not display on a page unless they are assigned to a group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"6\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Save Your Changes<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click <strong>Save<\/strong> or <strong>Update<\/strong> to apply the group assignment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If no group is listed: Click Add Category.
