2015 Woodworking Workshop
During the later portion of our April monthly meeting, students learned how to build their own snack dispensers with workshop facilitator Abraham Pinales. The teens learned how to safely use the tools and assemble the pieces properly. Each student was involved in every aspect of building, from sawing the wood to sanding their nearly finished products.
2015 Etiquette Workshop with The Youth Career Coach Inc.
In March, image coach Dawn Adeyemi facilitated a workshop for students to learn more about topics such as professional dress, interviewing, and dining etiquette.

In September, students toured the ancient and modern art exhibits and learned how to observe and interpret the meaning behind various pieces.
2013 First Star URI Academy Book Release
In January 2013, First Star students launched their book, Peek into My Pain: Reveal My Strength, at Books on the Square in Providence. Students read excepts from the book in front of an audience of family, friends, and local supporters before answering questions about the book writing processes.
