URI Policies for Pregnant and Parenting Students
The University of Rhode Island provides accommodation for pregnancy, childbirth, newborn care, adoption, foster care and acute child health care to enrolled students who are in good academic standing. These accommodations include but are not limited to: academic accommodations, scholarship eligibility, transportation and parking, housing, physical and mental health care, and childcare. Title IX
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 requires that schools that receive federal funds must not discriminate against students on the basis of sex, including a student’s pregnancy, childbirth, false pregnancy, termination, or recovery therefrom. Schools must provide equal access to school programs and extracurricular activities to students who might be, are, or have been pregnant. Read more . . .
