Keynote Speaker:
Ibrahim Abdul-Matin ’99
Mr. Abdul-Matin won the Martin Luther King Jr. Award for Outstanding Leadership and Contribution to the University Community in 1999. He was a linebacker at URI, and graduated with a degree in Political Science.
Since graduating, Ibrahim has published a best-selling book, “Green Deen: What Islam Teaches About Protecting the Planet.” He has appeared on ABC News, Fox News, and writes for CNN, the Washington Post, the Daily Beast, among others. Ibrahim is also the regular sports contributor for The Takeaway, a national news radio show program. Currently, he is a Policy Advisor in the New York City Mayor’s Office on issues of long term planning and sustainability.
