  • Winifred E. Brownell, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences , received the 2008 Faculty Mentor Award.
  • Lisa Harlow, Ph. D., Professor of Psychology, organized the 5th edition of the NSF Quantitative Training for Underrepresented Grants (QTUG). It was held at Northeastern University just prior to the APA convention in August 2008. The grant runs from September 1, 2007 through August 31, 2010.
  • Laura Beauvais, Ph. D., Professor of Management in the College of Business Administration, has agreed to serve as Interim Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs.
  • Congratulations to Helen (He) Huang, Ph. D., Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering, forwinning the 6th Delsys Prize, which was established by Carlo J. De Luca, CEO of Delsys Inc, to recognize innovation in the field of electromyography (EMG).
  • Congratulations to Kathryn Quina, Ph. D., Professor of Psychology and Women’s Studies, for taking on the role of Interim Associate Dean at the URI-Providence Campus.
  • URI announces 3rd annual President’s Distinguished Achievement Award winners:Clarice Owiti Odhiambo, who is founder of the Africa Center for Engineering Social Solutions.
  • Gerry Tyler, Ph.D., Professor and Chair of the Political Science Department, was named the winner of the 2008 URI Foundation Teaching Excellence Award.
