Biography

Dr. Burkett is a professor in the Department of Economics and the Department of Environmental and Natural Resource Economics at the University of Rhode Island and the executive director of the Institute for the Study of International Aspects of Competition. He received a Ph.D. in economics from the University of California (Berkeley) in 1981. He has taught at Brown University, Kiev State University, and the University of California as well as the University of Rhode Island. He has had research appointments at Birkbeck College (University of London), the Brookings Institution, the Ekonomski Institut-Zagreb, the Russian Research Center (Harvard), and the Institute of International Studies (University of California). He is a member of the editorial board of Economic Change and Restructuring. His interests include Bayesian econometrics, behavioral and experimental economics, health economics, and international economics.
