Woodvale Farm Day Camp Weekly Themes

woodvaleEach week will include the classic Woodvale Farm Day Camp activities along with a weekly theme.  The weekly theme is featured during special activities such as our Friday Farm Carnival as well as during our craft and story time each day.

Week 1: Barnyard Babies. Visit with the newest arrivals at Woodvale Farm.  Discover what it takes to help chicks, ducklings and baby turkeys grow big and strong.  There will be plenty of animal crafts and stories to round out your week.

Week 2: Happy Birthday, America! It’s the 4th of July and we’re throwing America a week-long Birthday party! Come celebrate as we make decorations, bake plenty of snacks and have a very special carnival.

Week 3: Green Thumbs.  Dig down in the dirt and discover the wonderful world of gardening. Plant seeds, water and care for growing vegetables and harvest what’s ready.

Week 4: Halloween in July. It’s always time for Halloween! Celebrate with costumes (on Friday), watermelon jack o’ lanterns, and lots of spooky fun!

Week 5: Farmyard Friends. Spend the week getting to know our furry and feathered friends. Help our farmer feed, groom and care for the many different types of animals we have at Woodvale Farm.

Week 6: Olden Days.  Try some old-fashioned methods of doing farm work, such as wool carding and hand crank ice cream making.  Travel back in time to meet the original Woodvale Farm Farmers.

Week 7: Kids in the Kitchen.  Each group this week will get a chance to try out different recipes using fruits and vegetables from our gardens.  There will also be lots of cooking themed crafts and stories.

Week 8: County Fair.  Participate in some traditional carnival games, as well as learn some of the techniques used when preparing animals and even vegetables to be shown at the fair.
