GRACE URRICO is Professor Emerita at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, where she taught for twenty-seven years. During her tenure there, Ms. Urrico served as Chairperson of the Music Department, was a member of the Faculty Senate, was a member of the college-wide General Education Subcommittee, chaired the Music Department Music Education Committee, chaired the department Music Marketing Committee, and served as liaison between the university and PMEA district. She taught Applied Piano, Piano Teaching Methods and Materials, Duo Pianism, Piano Class, Elementary Music Methods, Choral Conducting, Fundamentals of Music, Introduction to Music and supervised student teachers.
Prior to joining the faculty at Clarion, Grace was Vocal Music Supervisor, grades 1-8, in North Smithfield, Rhode Island; taught Piano, Piano Classes, Basic Musicianship and Theory at the Wellesley and Boston schools for the New England Conservatory; taught vocal music, grades 5-12, in Dike, Iowa; and vocal music, grades 7-12, in Knox, Pennsylvania. Grace performed as a soloist, accompanist, chamber musician, and duo pianist in southern New England, Iowa, western Pennsylvania and Germany. Grace was a member of the Farnham Urrico Piano Duo, who gave their debut performance in Jordan Hall, Boston, and gave recitals and workshops for twenty-five years.
Grace has served as adjudicator for Piano and Choral Festivals and Pageants in New England and Pennsylvania. In addition to her responsibilities as Guest Artist/Teacher and Accompanist at URI, Grace is pianist/organist at Dunns Corner Community Church Presbyterian, Westerly, and continues to teach privately. She is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, Mu Phi Epsilon, the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Retired Faculty and the Chaminade Club of Providence.
