Wanting Business

For students, there is an internal process to be considered as a business major. Students who do not start their college careers as Business majors (and who were not previously denied admission to the College of Business) can apply for an “internal transfer” to pursue an AACSB-accredited Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) from URI’s College of Business. Students must meet the business core requirements and have the minimum grade point average (GPA) to apply, and admission is not guaranteed based on demand. Please meet with a Business Advisor listed below to be coded as WANTING BUSINESS and review the internal transfer requirements outlined below.

Major Entry Requirements

Option 1:

  • 42 total credits earned with an overall grade point average of 2.50 or higher and a 3.00 or higher average in business core requirements MTH131/MTH141, ACC 201, STA308/STA409/BAI 210, and ECN 201/EEC105.

Option 2:

  • 42 total credits earned with an overall grade point average of 2.50 or higher and a 2.70 or higher average in business core requirements MTH131/MTH141, ACC 201, ACC202, STA308/STA409/BAI 210, ECN 201/EEC105, and ECN202.

After successfully completing one of the requirement options above, students must apply using this College of Business Internal Transfer Application form. Submit application and any other supporting documents for consideration within one of the application windows in January, May or August. Wanting Business advisors will communicate out to students regarding specific dates for deadlines. Transfer decisions will be made within 1 week of each of these dates, and will not be made at other times.
