Wanting Business

For students, there is an internal process to be considered as a business major.  Students who do not start their college careers as Business majors (and who were not previously denied admission to the College of Business) can apply for an “internal transfer” to pursue an AACSB-accredited Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) from URI’s College of Business. Students must meet the business core requirements and have the minimum grade point average (GPA) to apply, and admission is not guaranteed based on demand. Please meet with an Undeclared Advisor to be coded as EXPLORING BUSINESS and review the internal transfer requirements outlined below.

Major Entry Requirements

  • Complete the Exploring Business form at the time of declaring WBUS. This helps the COB keep track of demand when planning for enrollment needs.
  • Complete (including transfer credits) the following required courses with a core GPA of 2.7 and cum GPA of 2.5: ECN 201, ECN 202, MTH 131/141, STA 308, ACC 201, and ACC 202.
  • After successfully completing the core requirements, students can apply using this College of Business Internal Transfer Application form.
  • Submit application and any other supporting documents for consideration by one of the following dates: January 27th, May 27th, August 5th. Transfer decisions will be made within 1 week of each of these dates, and will not be made at other times.
