Lab Staff

GinaMarie Tonini, Research Program Manager

Gina earned her Master’s degree in Business Administration and her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Salve Regina University. After graduation, Gina worked as a Opioid Treatment Program counselor before joining the Memory and Aging Program (MAP) at Butler Hospital in 2018. Over four years, she held various roles assisting with and coordinating different clinical research studies before becoming the Assistant Manager of MAP. Currently, Gina continues to pursue her passion for early detection and prevention research through the Alzheimer’s Biomarker Lab.

Abby Doster, Research Assistant

Abby graduated from URI in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Neuroscience: Molecular Neuroscience. Prior to working for the Alber Lab, she worked in the Manuel Lab studying an ALS mouse model looking at gamma, alpha, and beta motor neurons. For the Alber Lab, she works as a Research Assistant on the ARIAS 2 study.

Rachel LaCroix, Senior Research Assistant

Rachel is a University of Rhode Island graduate with both a BS and an MS in Human Development and Family Science. Before working at the Alber Lab, she worked at Rhode Island Hospital collecting data for a variety of studies, primarily on a longitudinal study examining environmental influences on health outcomes. Today, she works as a Senior Research Assistant for the ARIAS 2 study.

Emma Larracey, Research Assistant

Emma earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Bridgewater State University in 2025. Prior to joining the Alber Lab, she worked at Rhode Island Hospital, where she contributed to research on the feasibility of an online anti-stigma intervention for people with epilepsy. For the Alber Lab, she works as a Research Assistant on the ARIAS 2 study.
