Fun-sized faculty development: Are you looking for a quick hit of professional development this semester? ATL has a series of short sessions that are packed with tips you can use in the classroom right away. These sessions are perfect for those who are feeling time-crunched. Descriptions are below for each session. All sessions are via Zoom.

Partnering with Students in Teaching and Learning: Sept. 14 & 15

There is a fast-growing field of research on the impacts of partnership and co-creation with students in teaching and learning. Meta-analyses suggest these activities improve equitable outcomes for students, increase students’ sense of belonging, and deepen students’ engagement in their learning. This workshop will introduce you to small steps you can take in your teaching to enact more partnership and co-creation with your students.

Reflective Teaching Practice: Sept. 15 & 16

Do you struggle with using current or past classroom experiences to guide your development as an instructor? Join Assistant Professors Amanda Crego-Emley and Alicia G. Vaandering in discussing how reflection on our teaching can shape pedagogical practices. Acknowledging the challenges of regular, iterative reflection, together we’ll explore strategies for developing sustainable reflective practices.

Faculty Tools to Support Students: Sept. 29 & 30

Join us for a conversation about URI software and tools for instructors to use in support of student success (Starfish, eCampus, Report It).
