Biography

Associate Teaching Professor of Human Development and Family Science, Julianna Golas, began working at URI in 1998 as a research assistant and adjunct professor and became a full-time faculty member in 2016. She has taught a variety of courses in both online and face-to-face formats, including Research Methods, Lifespan Development, and Health and Wellness of the Young Child. Julianna has partnered with the Office for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning (ATL) for many years as both a participant and contributor, including serving as a Faculty Development Affiliate during the transition to online learning during the pandemic, presenting on specifications grading, and co-leading seminars on Ungrading and Grading for Equity. She has also worked with ATL on program-level assessment, chaired the Human Development and Family Science Assessment Committee, and contributed to URI’s NECHE accreditation work. 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Support ATL’s faculty development efforts related to teaching, learning, and assessment
• Develop and facilitate workshops and resources on effective classroom assessment, particularly in the era of generative AI
• Contribute to university-wide program-level assessment and accreditation initiatives
