Biography

Julianna has been teaching in the Department of Human Development since the early 2000’s. She has a special interest in non-traditional student populations and designing curriculum that will be engaging, and meaningful for diverse learners. In more recent years she has dedicated herself to creating more small group learning opportunities both with large lecture style classes and more moderate size classes. One notable accomplishment has been the creation of a Guided Notes Workbook, to support student’s higher order thinking skills in an introductory research methods course. She also has experience with scaffolding student’s research writing skills through a process of mini assignments, peer review, and a leveled grading rubric that gives students information about skills that they are using appropriately, and how they can implement more sophisticated writing skills in the future.
