Join us 11:00am to 12:00pm on:
Feb 15, Feb 22, Mar 1, and Mar 8 (Tuesdays)
Dr. Rebecca Millsop and Dr. Anna Santucci will facilitate discussions around the book “Bandwidth Recovery: Helping Students Reclaim Cognitive Resources Lost to Poverty, Racism, and Social Marginalization” by Dr. Cia Verschelden (This Book Club is based on: Branch, K. & Santucci, A. 2021. Inclusive Excellence Book Club on Cia Vershelden’s Bandwidth Recovery). Participants receive their own copy of the book and will reflect on the following questions:
- What does inclusive excellence in teaching look like? What are the core considerations?
- How do racism, poverty, and marginalization influence our capacity to learn? What socio-psychological phenomena undermine our brains’ resources?
- Which practices are most promising for enhancing cognitive bandwidth and holistic learning? As a teaching practitioner, how can I best strategize for equity and student success by promoting Bandwidth Recovery?
- What actual steps can I take to make positive, sustainable change?
Participants may also receive $250 in Professional Development Funds to support implementation in their courses if they elect to submit a brief Action Plan.
