Dr. Adriene Jones Daly

Biography

Adrienne Jones Daly is an associate teaching professor in the Department of Professional and Public Writing. A self-described language nerd, she has two degrees in linguistics and likes to remind her students that English is not the only language for research writing. She also holds a PhD in English, specializing in Rhetoric and Composition. Before coming to URI, she taught English in Japan, copy-edited for academic writers and the US State Department, and worked with student writers at various English- and French-speaking institutions. She has taught first-year writing at URI since 2014, along with other courses focused on a wide range of writing contexts and skills.

As the 2026-2028 Faculty Leader for Writing Across URI, she will be supporting faculty across campus in writing pedagogy and disciplinary writing practices.
