Biography
Jennie joined URI in June 2023. She has been working in higher education for over a decade, serving underrepresented student populations through her various roles. In addition to her current Instructional Design role, she is an Adjunct Professor at multiple institutions, teaching a range of business courses to diverse students. Her unique background and experience informs her inclusive Instructional Design approach, utilizing Universal Design, Learning Theory, as well as Section 504, and ADA compliance.
She is also a first-generation Portuguese-American and a first-generation college student who began her college career at her local community college. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with concentrations in Marketing and Leadership from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. In addition to her love of helping students, Jennie also loves spending time with friends and family, traveling, hiking, kayaking, biking, and all things outdoors.
Primary Responsibilities
- Co-Facilitates the Online Pedagogy Program
- Provides direct instructional design support for faculty creating and/or adapting online courses, certificates, and/or programs both for URI and URI Online
- Reviews online courses for quality assurance as a certified Quality Matters Peer Reviewer.
- Supports strategic initiatives related to online teaching, learning, and design for programs and departments as requested.

- MBA with a concentration in Leadership from UMass Dartmouth
- Quality Matter Peer Review Certified
