Biography

Teryn joined URI as part of the ATC team in 2022. Prior to moving to Providence, she worked with first generation, low income, and underrepresented students in California public high schools as a UC Berkeley DCAC Fellow. She worked within the schools to increase access to all post-secondary educational options. This work included college planning, application support, financial aid application support, test preparation, transfer planning, and facilitating an academic intervention program for 9th and 10th grade students. As a San Jose Unified School District Exam Proctor, she proctored exams and accommodated exams for 9th-12th grade students.

When Teryn initially moved from the Bay Area in California to Providence, RI, she worked in customer service management as a Membership Coordinator and Supervisor for a local grocery co-op.

Creating inclusive spaces for LGBTQ+ and other marginalized identities has been a focus across Teryn’s work, from peer teaching inclusive sexual health education classes as an undergraduate to working in student support services with first generation students and managing employees in more traditional retail settings.
