Call for Nominations: URI’s 7th Annual Part-Time Faculty Teaching Excellence Award

From Dr. Matt Bodah, Vice Provost for Academic Personnel and Budget:

Dear colleagues:

I am pleased to announce that nominations are now being accepted for the Seventh Annual Part-Time Faculty Teaching Excellence Award. The procedures and criteria are similar to those of the URI Foundation’s teaching excellence award. Part-time (i.e. per course) faculty who have taught at least one (3+ credit) course since July 1, 2023 are eligible for nomination.

If you have any questions about someone’s eligibility, please contact me at mbodah@uri.edu. The winner will receive a $1,000 cash prize, have their name added to the plaque of award winners, and be honored at a reception in May.

If you would like to nominate a part-time faculty member, please send a letter of nomination to the Office of the Provost by 5:00 pm on Friday, March 1, 2024. Nominations should be sent to Lou Ann Diomandes at ldiomandes@uri.edu. Please put “PTF Teaching Excellence Award” in the subject line.

  • We ask that letters of nomination describe both the quantity and quality of the part-time faculty member’s teaching.
  • Please discuss the types of courses, including size and level, of the part-time faculty member’s courses.
  • Discuss the impact that the part-time faculty member has had on students and on the department’s ability to deliver a high-quality curriculum. In addition, please
mention any unique contributions made by the part-time faculty member.

If you have any questions, please call 4-4402.

Please share this information with faculty or others who might be interested in submitting a nomination.

Sincerely,
Matt Bodah, Vice Provost
