Faculty Development Specialist I – Scholarship of Teaching and Learning

Job Description:

  • Support faculty and create educational and professional development experiences focused on equipping members of the URI instructional community to become effective practitioners of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).
  • Develop, deliver, monitor, and improve faculty development experiences that enable instructors to reflect on and effectively pursue research-based pedagogical strategies that quantify improved learning for the students they teach, as well as equip faculty to make progress on their research agendas based on their teaching pursuits.
  • Work with interested graduate students who serve as instructors and teaching assistants across URI to develop their own teaching as research (TAR) projects.
  • Work towards a goal of URI joining the Center for the Integration of Teaching & Learning (CIRTL) Network (https://cirtl.net).

ATL is pleased to announce and invite applications for our new Faculty Leaders Program. This program is designed to give faculty members the opportunity to serve in a leadership role, working collaboratively with ATL staff, to both advance their professional development and support the advancement of faculty and graduate student instructors across the university.

We are inviting applications in three leadership areas:

  • Graduate Student Instructor Support
  • Inclusive Teaching & Accessibility
  • Student Learning Outcomes, Assessment, and Accreditation 

Faculty Leaders will serve for 2 years, devoting a portion of their time to working with faculty, graduate student instructors, and ATL staff developing professional development resources and delivering workshops within the context of a project scope that aligns with their area of expertise.
