Biography

Casey has been a member of Dr. Steven Alm’s Bee Lab since 2019 and received her Master’s degree from URI in 2022. For her thesis, she evaluated the efficacy of two organic methods of varroa mite control in honey bee colonies. In 2021, Casey received second place for her poster presentation on her varroa mite research at the Entomological Society of America conference in Denver, CO. She is currently interested in evaluating pollinator plantings to assess potential effects on wild native bees. When Casey isn’t out chasing bees, she is normally hiking with her dog, Jake, or baking pastries for the lab.
