The Big Data and Eating Decisions The Big Data and Eating Decisions (Byte) Lab studies why people eat what they eat, and how the environments around them — grocery stores, food assistance programs, digital platforms — can be reshaped to make healthier choices easier. Dr. Vadiveloo’s research combines nutritional epidemiology, behavioral science, and implementation research to design and evaluate interventions that improve diet quality and cardiovascular health at a population scale. Recent work spans statewide evaluation of fresh produce incentives for lower income households, personalized grocery purchase incentives delivered through a mobile app, new tools for measuring what people eat and buy, and evidence synthesis on how ultra-processed foods influence dietary quality and health.
