Biography

Dr. Katherine Abbott joined the CCJ faculty in Fall 2026. Her work explores the Criminology and Law and Society fields, investigating the realities behind legal and criminal justice systems. She has studied a number of topics, from the daily lives and perspectives of lawyers to (dis)interest in law enforcement professions. She specializes in qualitative research, including interviewing, ethnography, and media analysis.

Dr. Abbott especially enjoys teaching. She invites students to explore their interests and engage in their education through case studies and other pedagogical techniques.

She previously taught at the University of New Hampshire (2013-2026) and received her doctorate from Arizona State University (in 2013).
