The mission of URI Chinese Culture Club is to provide URI faculty, staff, students and their families opportunities to participate in cultural and linguistic activities relevant to those found in local Chinese American groups, or any other national and ethnic culture groups that have adopted elements of Chinese culture and language. The URI Chinese Culture Club aims to make contributions to the inclusive and diversity culture of the campus community, and to create a warm and friendly environment on URI campus for Chinese American faculty and staff so that they can happily stay and contribute better to the teaching and research mission of the University.
Activities include:
- Receptions to welcome new faculty and staff members joining URI;
- Round-table discussions on successful research and teaching at URI;
- Chinese language school for young kids;
- Ethnic dance practice and performance;
- Celebrations of traditional Chinese festivals such as Lunar New Year and Moon Festival;
- Recreational activities such as singing, dancing, cards, fitness and more; or
- Facilitation of social events and gathering among friends at URI.
