As we approach spring and start to prepare for this year’s Commencement celebrations, the University would like to provide you with an update regarding your Commencement.
The University of Rhode Island is still planning on holding in-person Commencement ceremonies for the Class of 2020, potentially as soon as fall 2021. Evolving public health guidelines, travel restrictions, and the lack of global availability of a COVID-19 vaccine continue to be challenges. By waiting until fall 2021, travel restrictions and capacity limitations are expected to ease and additional vaccines will be available, providing more options to hold large public gatherings safely.
We are optimistic that we will be able to welcome you on campus to celebrate your outstanding accomplishments. Again, we are so proud of the Class of 2020, and we thank you for your patience and understanding as we do our best to keep our Rhody family healthy and safe during this difficult time.
