The University of Rhode Island has made the difficult decision to not hold the in-person commencement ceremonies scheduled for May 16 and May 17, 2020. The University is deeply committed to ensuring our prospective graduates and their families have an opportunity to celebrate and share one of their greatest life achievements. Given the continuing guidance about social distancing and group gatherings, it is essential that the health and well being of our graduates and their families remain our highest priority.
We do, however, wish to hear from our soon-to-be graduates about their ideas for an alternative commencement celebration. Our student leaders have created a survey for those who had hoped to participate in commencement to provide ideas for how the University can celebrate and recognize students’ accomplishments. We encourage those that had planned to participate in commencement ceremonies to contribute their feedback in this survey by Thursday, March 26 at noon.
We will continue to identify ways for us to engage as a community, even if remotely. Thank you for your support, patience, and care for each other, Rhody Family!
