COVID Update: Week of Nov. 21-27

Prior to the Thanksgiving break, URI processed 2,134 tests, including 177 symptomatic tests.  The testing center was closed Wednesday, Nov. 24, through Sunday, Nov. 28, therefore the results reported below are for a partial week of testing. Nine positive COVID-19 cases were reported in the URI community during the period Nov. 21 to Nov. 27 (8 students, 1 faculty/staff/affiliate). The positivity rate for this period was 0.25%, falling from 0.51% during the prior reporting period. Due to the shortened testing window, we are not reporting a 7-day incidence rate for this reporting period.

The URI COVID testing center re-opened Monday, Nov. 29, and all students, faculty and staff are encouraged to participate in surveillance testing upon return to URI. Testing information is available here.
