To keep our community informed about ongoing efforts related to COVID-19 testing, the University of Rhode Island has launched a COVID-19 Tracker.

The tracker displays the number of COVID-19 tests conducted and the number of positive test results received by date and cumulatively. In addition, the tracker includes an update on the number of students in isolation/quarantine.

Since students began returning to campus Aug. 24, the University has conducted 1,742 tests, with 4 positive test results. This includes those students arriving from hot spot areas (those states identified as having a COVID-19 positivity rate of 5% or higher).

Students who test positive are notified by Health Services, and moved immediately into appropriate isolation space. Whenever possible, we will request that students isolate and quarantine at home. When this is not possible, students with a housing contract may be moved into designated on-campus housing or contracted off-campus housing. Students living off-campus who are unable to go home will remain in their rental/leased space off campus, depending on individual circumstances.

To date, the University has conducted 2,179 COVID-19 tests since Jan. 22, with 16 positive cases.

The information displayed is based on samples collected by URI Health Services and testing conducted by Health Services and our contracted laboratory partners. The data represents all URI campuses. Data for the previous day are published every weekday before noon.

As we continue to work together to protect the health and safety of our community, all members of our community are encouraged to commit to the #rhodytogether pledge and are reminded they are required to:

• Wear a mask at all times when on a URI campus.
• Complete the daily health screening prior to coming to campus or leaving their residence hall room. If you are not feeling well, do not come to campus.
• Maintain a physical distance of 6 feet or more from others whenever possible.
• Adhere to all Rhode Island Executive Orders pertaining to social gatherings.
• Wash your hands frequently or use hand sanitizer that is readily available across campus.
