This self-paced webinar is designed to help students who want to use disability-related accommodations in college. This may include, but is not limited to, students who held an IEP or a 504 plan with their district prior to college (these do not transfer to college). You will learn general information about our office to best determine whether the University of Rhode Island is the right fit for you. Student supporters may view this information to understand how disability support works at the college level.

Disability, Access, and Inclusion’s (DAI’s) role is to provide support and accommodations to students who researched their program of study and the educational model of this institution, and have self-determined that they are otherwise qualified to meet the technical standards and essential requirements of their program WITH or WITHOUT reasonable accommodations.

Additionally, DAI cannot guarantee specific accommodations (academic, housing, dining, transportation, or parking) for prospective students, regardless of documentation. Accommodations are determined through an interactive process with the student after enrollment confirmation.

Students who wish to work with DAI are required to review this DAI information session carefully and as many times as needed. As a student, you are responsible for knowing the information, policies, and procedures outlined.

At the end of this DAI information session, you will be asked to sign an acknowledgment confirming that you have reviewed the information and agree to follow the policies, procedures, and expectations discussed. Our team is available to answer questions and help explain any policies or procedures covered here. You and your supporters, i.e., parents, family, or caregivers are welcome to contact our office if additional guidance would be helpful.
