Biography

In August 2008, Emad graduated with a Bachelor’s degree of Engineering Science in Mechanical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM), Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. For a period of one year, he worked at Zuhair Fayez Partnership Consultants, Al Khobar/Saudi Arabia as a rotating equipment engineer. In August 2011, he received a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering & Applied Mechanics from the University of New Haven, West Haven, Connecticut.

In 2012, he joined the Dynamic Photo-Mechanics Laboratory (DPML) at the University of Rhode Island in pursuit of his PhD in Mechanical Engineering & Applied Mechanics under the supervision of Prof. Arun Shukla. As of 2013 he has been appointed as Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering and Islamic Architecture, Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

His research interests pertain to applied experimental techniques in solid mechanics to understand the effects of blast loading on structures and materials. In particular, analyzing and developing different blast resistive structures to mitigate explosive loads.
