Advisors and Mentors
First-year students are assigned an engineering advisor at University College in Roosevelt Hall. This is normally your advising contact until the spring semester of your sophomore year. Once you are admitted to the College of Engineering, you will be assigned an academic advisor and faculty mentor in your major. A full set of expectations for the advisor-advisee partnership can be found in our Academic Advising Agreement.
Academic Advisors
College of Engineering academic advisors play a critical role in assisting students throughout their academic journey. They provide guidance on course selection, academic requirements, and graduation progress.
Advisors help students navigate the curriculum, understand degree requirements, and choose courses aligned with their goals. They assist in creating academic plans, resolving scheduling conflicts, and ensuring students stay on track. Advisors also support student campus engagements and resources and provide advice on university policies, procedures, and resources, empowering students to make informed decisions.
You will need to meet with your advisor at least once every semester until graduation. You can schedule a meeting with your academic advisor via Starfish or by contacting them directly.
IEP students need to meet with their respective IEP Director in addition to their engineering advisor each semester.
