Biography

Liza Agyemang is a Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Rhode Island, where she is also pursuing a major in French. She was born and raised in Ghana and completed her high school education at Mount Pleasant High School. While she was there, Liza participated in a variety of groups and athletics, including the French club, philosophy, track and field, robotics, and more. She participated in the Memorial Day parade in Washington, DC in 2023 as a member of the Mount Pleasant Band and Chorus and she later joined the Tri-M Music Honor Society. Passionate about research, she participated in the RI-INBRE Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) this summer. This provided her with the opportunity to work in the Andreu Lab which specializes in magnetic nanoparticles. During her time there, she contributed to designing and 3D printing components for a Magnotherm device used in live cell culture. This year, Liza is continuing her research in the Andreu lab.
