Cheryl Trudel joined the University of Rhode Island in 2008 in the Office of University Events, transferring eventually to External Relations and Communications, where her passion lies as an alumna with a Bachelor of Arts in communications studies.
Cheryl has worked in education for more than 30 years in admissions, development, student affairs, and academics at Brown University, Johnson & Wales University, and the Metropolitan Regional Career and Tech Center (MET). She also contracted as a communications specialist for the Chariho Regional School District writing news releases to promote the district’s educational reputation, where she also served on the Tri-Town Task Force for Substance Abuse.
Her passion for working in education stems from a lifelong love of communication and a belief that education can shape young minds. She also teaches the University’s first-year retention class, URI 101, where she helps students acclimate not only to college life at URI, but most importantly, achieve a sense of belonging, interconnectedness, and community, providing the insight and skills necessary for their success.
At her core, Cheryl fully embraces the challenges of her role as an executive assistant, striving to provide high-end, professional support, with a comprehensive understanding of the needs of senior leadership.
