Kate O’Malley

Kate O’Malley primarily focuses on admission recruitment and student orientation related jobs. She also oversees production of the campus maps. She collaborates with publications, communications, marketing, and web staff on print and web projects, serving a diverse set of clients across campus. From inception to delivery, Kate is the project manager on a range of print jobs. She develops creative concepts, writes and edits content, and serves as the main liaison with clients and printers. She is a member of the University homepage committee, and, as needed, assists with the University magazine, newsletters, and key marketing and recruitment campaigns. 

Kate’s goals include: staying current with admission recruitment and audience research and trends, and best practices in higher ed communications and marketing in order to produce authentic, quality content that best serves the goals of the University; improving interdepartmental collaboration to better integrate overall recruitment efforts and messaging; seeking professional development opportunities, and engaging in more cultural, educational, and social justice related campus activities.

Her background includes years of volunteer and professional experience in public relations, marketing, advocacy work, community outreach, nonprofit management, and paralegal services. Kate is a former chamber of commerce director, founder of nonprofit initiatives focused on local environmental and historical preservation, and international famine relief, and a fundraiser for Africa Unite, a human-rights organization in Cape Town, South Africa. She has a Bachelor of Science in communications from Syracuse University, S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
