The International Parliamentary Scholarship at the German Bundestag gives young professionals the opportunity to experience how the German Parliament works over the course of five months, with three of these spent working in a Member’s office.

Institute of Current World Affairs Writing Fellowship
This fellowship is focused on writing and understanding societies besides our own on a deeper level through research and reporting. In exchange for a letter of intent and a strong plan for research through a deeply immersive experience in another culture, the Institute of Current World Affairs can potentially fund an entire project for an individual and their immediate family, if they choose to move with the individual conducting research.
Individuals who study abroad are expected to have the necessary language skills to succeed in their research in that country in addition to strong English speaking and writing skills and strong ties to the United States if they are not a U.S. citizen. Candidates must also be under the age of thirty-six at the time of the letter of intent’s due date and must be finished with their current degree within six months of their selection, whether that is undergraduate, graduate, or other studies.
First Trip Funding for Trips Outside the US
First Trip provides funding for individuals traveling to countries ranked lower than Very High on the United Nations’ annual Human Development Index.
Fund for Education Abroad
FEA invests in deserving US undergraduates who are least likely to study abroad. They consider financial need, demographic factors, and academic plan and preparedness to decide scholarship recipients.
Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals
The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals (CBYX) is a fellowship funded by the German Bundestag and State Department. It annually provides 75 American and 75 German young professionals between the ages of 18½–24 the opportunity to spend one year in each other’s countries studying, interning, and living with hosts.
Council on Foreign Relations Fellowships
This is a collection of fellowships offered by the Council on Foreign Relations that support professionals in the field gain higher understandings of foreign policy, either domestically or abroad. There are fellowships for simply policy-related work, in addition to programs to Canada, India, and Japan, as well as those specifically for military personnel or international relations professors. These fellowships are incredibly diverse in what they offer to the individuals who are accepted, which also varies on the fellowship itself.
Diverse International Women of Color Study Abroad Scholarship
The Diverse International Women of Color Study Abroad Scholarship is intended to assist women of color who are exceptional in their studies and in need of financial assistance to study abroad.
Blakemore Freeman Fellowships
Blakemore Freeman Fellowships are awarded for one academic year of full-time, intensive language study of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, or Khmer at the advanced level in approved language programs in East or Southeast Asia. Applicants must be American citizens or permanent residents of the United States.
Brenda A. Brown Passport Scholarship
High School & College students are interested in international experiences which includes study, intern, teach English or conduct research are invited to apply for the Brenda A. Brown Passport Scholarship through Expanding Boundaries International for their first ever passport.
Católica Fellowships for Portuguese American Students
If selected, scholarship winners will receive a full tuition and fee waiver for any two-year master’s program that is offered at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. Applicants must be U.S. citizens of Portuguese decent and must have graduated college with at least a 3.0 GPA and must maintain that GPA for the program in order to have their scholarship renewed for the second year. If the program selected by the student is fully taught in Portuguese, proof of Portuguese fluency must be sent in with the application. Further, based on the program selected, applicants may also be required to pass interviews or write specific essays as part of their application.
