URI students and recent alumni

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides support to recent graduates and graduate students for individually designed study or research projects or for English teaching assistantships in more than 140 countries worldwide. The award covers a 9-10 month grant period.

Apply

Application to the Fulbright US Student Program is overseen by the URI Office of National Fellowships and Academic Opportunities. The URI campus process is designed to give students and alumni the information and guidance they need to submit the strongest possible scholarship application.

Students will meet with the URI Fulbright Program Adviser during the spring semester before they apply. Over the course of the late spring and summer they will devise their proposal and go through a series of drafts and revisions with guidance from the URI Fulbright Program Adviser, as well as their recommenders and faculty mentors. The formal campus deadline for all materials is the day after Labor Day each year, after which time a committee of faculty volunteers is convened to evaluate URI candidates and provide final feedback prior to the national deadline in early October.
