About us
On June 1, 2009 the opening ceremony for the Ocean Science and Exploration Center takes place at the Narragansett Bay Campus. The Inner Space Center is founded by Dr. Dwight Coleman and Dr. Robert Ballard. In 2008/2009 the ISC supports the E/V Nautilus and NOAA ship Okeanos Explorer as the first two telepresence-enabled vessels, with ship-to-shore connectivity for science and outreach as central mission components. Since then the ISC’s mission and team has grown to connect many different types of research and exploration vessels and people globally.
